The film “The Rebel”, representing Vietnamese cinema for the first time at the Far East Film Festival, hits the screen from April 18-23 in Udine city, Italy.

The film was produced by private film studio Chanh Phuong, in coordination with US Cinema Pictures and directed by overseas Vietnamese Charlie Nguyen.

The famous Italian Asian film critic, Paolo Bertolin, who described the film as an action movie with captivating scenes and a powerful script, suggested it should be shown over the world to help people understand more about modern Vietnamese cinema.

“The Rebel”, set in Vietnam in the 1920s, is a love story between a French military officer and a beautiful Vietnamese woman serving as a volunteer in the army.

More than 60 films from 11 countries in North Asia and South East Asia will take part in the 10th Far East Film Festival.
