Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh has asked the authorities of Central Highland Lam Dong province to pay special attention to infrastructure construction and personnel training in its socio-economic development plan.

Lam Dong should be more active in bringing into play its potential, especially its advantages in agro-forestry and tourism, Party General Secretary Manh told the local authorities during his three-day working visit to Lam Dong from March 17-19.

The Party leader also required the local authorities to better tackle rural agriculture and farming issues so as to build a civilised countryside and an advanced agricultural base and to further improve the farmers’ material and cultural life.

General Secretary Manh took the occasion to hail the province’s relatively high economic growth rate and positive changes in economic restructuring while improving the local people’s living condition and maintaining social security and defence.

However, he also pointed to the province’s shortcomings such as unsustainable economic development and large dependence on agricultural production. Tourism development has not yet matched with the great potential of Lam Dong province as slow investment attraction and infrastructure construction and lack of human resources are hindering the provincial development, Mr Manh stressed.
