Businesses in the Mekong Delta region exported 20,000 tonnes of rice and 2,000 tonnes of seafood to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October, earning US$10 million.

The October value raised their 10-month export earnings from this potential market to US$118 million.

Vietnam’s key exports to the UAE include rice, shrimp, frozen fish fillet, and coconut, with total export value reaching US$292 million in 2009 and 2010.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has asked local businesses to do further research into this market and negotiate carefully before signing any contracts.
