The Belgian parliamentarian leaders agreed on the Vietnamese Ambassador’s proposal to further boost cooperation between the two countries in science and technology and bring more Vietnamese students to Belgium, in an effort to tighten bilateral relations.

President of the Belgian Senate Armand De Decker and First Vice Speaker of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives Hermans de Croo made the affirmation when they met Phan Thuy Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg and Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the European Commission before she ended her mission.

The leaders expressed their support to Vietnam’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2008-09 term, adding that they will try their best to boost relations between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam.

Earlier, Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker received Ambassador Thanh.
The Luxembourg PM reiterated his country’s support to Vietnam in bolstering relations with the EU. He said he will urge Luxembourg companies to invest more in Vietnam.
