Lao people elect deputies to new-tenure legislature
Nearly 4 million Lao voters cast their ballots in the election of deputies to the eighth National Assembly (NA) and the provincial People’s Councils on March 20.
The country’s Constitution, amended in 2015, stipulates for the first time that provincial People’s Councils are set up to consider and approve local decisions while supervising the operations of local organs of power.
The election started at 7 a.m. and concluded at 5 p.m. the same day.
