ASEAN conference discusses measures to support disadvantaged groups
An ASEAN conference on social services and social welfare took place in Hanoi on September 11.
The conference was held by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) in coordination with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) within the framework of the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (8th SOMSWD).
Participating in the conference were representatives from SOMSWD, ASEAN Secretariat, domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations, regional and international organizations, United Nations and Vietnamese Government agencies.
They discussed issues related to social welfare and services for disadvantaged groups and establishment of social welfare and services systems to cooperate in collecting and publishing social welfare profiles and good examples of social services in ASEAN member countries, which will be used to draw maps of social welfare and services in each country and the region as well.
