Scientists have found 665 species of medicinal plants belonging to 18 families in the Xuan Son National Park, northern Phu Tho province.

Of the newly-found species, 22 are listed as rare, making the park home to 40 plant species endangered in Vietnam.

The park managerial board has been boosting patrols and launching campaigns among its staff and local population to reduce wanton exploitation and destruction of rare plants.
