Surgeons from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, have successfully removed a 7kg tumour from the face of a Vietnamese girl.

The surgeons said that the girl, Lai Thi Dao, got a bean-sized spot on her tongue at the age of 3, which later developed quickly to become a tumour.

The benign tumour called “Schawannoma,” made up one-third of her weight, causing a lot of difficulties for Dao in her daily life.

The 12-hour operation worth US$107,000 was paid by a non-governmental organization for Children.
