By the end of July, more than 130 businesses had participated in 50 rural market days in 20 provinces and cities.

The Vietnam Business Studies and Assistance Centre (BSA), in coordination with the Domestic Market Department (DMD) and business associations, held a seminar in Hanoi on August 12 to discuss linking producers and distributors for the benefit of domestic customers.

Participants said that after one year of implementation, a programme to bring Vietnamese products to rural areas has had significant success. By the end of July, businesses had earned more than VND30 billion from sales in rural areas.

But marketing in rural areas is still inefficient and products are not diversified. Low-quality and illegal products are still widespread in rural areas.

Truong Quang Hoai Nam, head of the DMD said the domestic trade promotion programme should continue in the long run to create a good competitive environment free of fake and low-quality products.

At the seminar, the DMD presented certificates of merit to northern businesses who have contributed to developing distribution networks in rural areas.
