Chief nuclear envoys from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Korea (RoK) held brief talks in Beijing, China on May 30, the RoK’s Yonhap news agency reported.

RoK envoy Kim Sook and his DPRK counterpart Kim Kye-gwan met for about an hour, Yonhap said.

It was the first meeting between the two envoys since Kim Sook took office last month. However, details of the meeting were not revealed.

According to Yonhap, the DPRK's negotiator arrived in Beijing earlier this week to hold talks with his American counterpart Christopher Hill, while the RoK envoy flew into the Chinese capital on May 30 from Moscow.

The RoK envoy is set to meet with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei, who chairs the six-Party talks, later in the day.
