The Ministry of Finance has issued guidelines on the implementation of the Government’s policy to support fishermen.
Accordingly, any fishermen who want to buy or build new fishing boats with engines of more than 90 horsepowers (HP) will receive an annual aid of VND70 million from now to 2010.
Fishermen can receive a sum of VND10 million if they want to use more fuel-saving engines with a capacity of 40-90 HP, and VND18 million for engines with a capacity of more than 90 HP.
The Government will pay 30 percent of insurance fees for fishermen and 100 percent of life insurance fees for seamen.
