The World Trade Organisation (WTO) membership will help expand markets for Vietnam's agro-forestry which is commensurate with the country's strategy to develop agriculture for export by 2010.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat made the affirmation at an annual conference of the International Supporting Group (ISG) donors titled "Vietnamese farm businesses and the WTO" that was held in Hanoi on October 25.

The conference, co-chaired by MARD Minister Phat and US Ambassador to Vietnam Michael W. Marine, promoted dialogues on policies aimed at creating a legal corridor for agriculture businesses of all economic sectors and equally raising their competitiveness after Vietnam becomes an official member of the world's biggest trade body.
