AEON Corporation planted trees near Lang Co Bay in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on September 16 as part of the “Afforesting Hue-Vietnam” programme.

Nearly 400 people participated in the event, including 100 volunteers from Japan.

The programme has been implemented in Lang Co since 2010 under a three-year plan.

So far, the AEON Corporation has planted 64,000 trees, including merawan, kanyin byu and acacia trees, with the help of 1,032 Japanese volunteers.

The corporation will plant 2,000 trees this time and 6,000 more later this year.

After three years of the “Afforesting Hue-Vietnam” programme, AEON has planted a total of 72,000 trees on approximately 34 hectares.

AEON has also recently planted nearly 9.8 million trees in other Asian countries such as Japan, China, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Laos.

In addition to its afforestation projects, the corporation has provided US$3 million in non-refunable aid for Thua Thien-Hue province to build 30 schools between 2010 and 2013.
