The Czech Republic considers Vietnam one of its priority trade partners, a representative from the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade said on July 8.

The Czech official, Ales Uchytil, is in Vietnam to prepare for the first performance of Czech businesses at the fourth Vietnam International Precision Engineering, Machine Tools and Metalworking Exhibition and Conference (MTA) to be held from July 9-12.

Mr Uchytil said the two countries’ trade has increased over the recent years but has not yet matched with their real potential, adding that the MTA Vietnam 2008 would provide both countries’ businesses with opportunities to promote bilateral ties.

According to Czech’s statistics, two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and the Czech Republic reached US$252 million last year, an increase of 59 percent over last year’s figure.
