Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has decided to allocate 7,100 tonnes of rice from national reserves as relief aid to four provinces, which were hit by drought early this year.

About 3,000 tonnes of rice will be provided to Quang Nam, 3,000 tonnes to  Binh Dinh, 600 tonnes to Da Nang and 500 tonnes to Khanh Hoa. The four localities have been assigned to deliver rice to residents suffering the consequences of the drought.

Under the decision, the PM states that from now on, the government will only provide hard-hit provinces with rice from national reserves when the local budget is not enough to support people with financial difficulties.
