The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs has officially opened an office in Hanoi for a German-funded project on poverty alleviation.

The €2 million project funded by the German government is being conducted in 12 villages in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh, the coastal province of Thanh Hoa and the Central Highlands province of Dac Lac.

Beginning in March 2006, the six-year project aims to help the target provinces solidify policies on poverty production and improve the capacity of staff working for poverty alleviation, especially at the grassroots level.
