Carlos Furche, Head of International Economic Relationship Department, belongs to Chile Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has confirmed in the El Mercurio newspaper that the promotion of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Vietnam is one of Chile’s top priorities in 2008.

Furche said, besides Vietnam, the South American nation will also push for the signing of Free Trade Agreements with Australia, Malaysia and Turkey, while strengthening the FTA with the US and negotiating financial services with Mexico.

Chile’s export turnover is predicted to surpass the US$67 billion mark, thanks to the increasing price of copper - its main export item.
