Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai has instructed the Ministry of Planning and Investment to include the railway project to connect Hoa Hung in Ho Chi Minh City to Trang Bom in Dong Nai City on the list of ODA capital loans to be negotiated with the Japanese government for the fiscal year 2009-2010.

The Vietnam Railways Corporation has also been directed to work with Japan’s foreign trade promotion agencies and Japanese consultants to complete a feasibility study into the route later this year.

Several years ago, Japan’s Southern Transport Consultation and Design Company (TEDI South) worked with Japanese consultants to produce a report on investing in the railway route connecting Hoa Hung and Trang Bom, which would cost US$550 million.
