The Transport Engineering Design Incorporated (TEDI) Company is completing a final report on projecting and developing the public passenger transport system in Hanoi by 2010 and 2020.

According to TEDI, total required investment capital for public transport in the capital city is estimated at US$12 billion. Of the figure, capital for eight urban railway systems amounts to US$11.7 billion.

By 2020, Hanoi will have a modern public transport network with co- operation between the public road and railway system, which will be able to serve about 2.5 million people in the city and 3.5 million people outside the city.
