A high-level Vietnamese delegation led by State President Nguyen Minh Triet arrived in Havana on September 27, beginning an official visit to Cuba at the invitation of Cuban President Raul Castro.

The President was welcomed at Jose Marti international airport by representatives from the Cuban government, Vietnamese ambassador to Vietnam Vu Chi Cong and staff from the Vietnamese embassy in Cuba.

In response to reporters after landing, President Triet said he felt moved when returning to Cuba - a beautiful country. He expressed his belief that the visit will be successful, contributing to strengthening the relations between the Parties, States and people of the two countries. “I am proud of the traditional and special friendship between the two countries. I will hold talks with Cuban leaders to discuss solutions to consolidate and strengthen the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, especially in areas where both countries have advantages for mutual development” said President Triet.

State President Nguyen Minh Triet is scheduled to visit and talk to staff from the Vietnamese embassy in Cuba the same day.
