Overseas Vietnamese have raised VND1.9 billion (roughly US$118,750) for flood victims in central Vietnam in 2007.

Bui Van Thinh, Deputy Director of the Department for Economy-Science and Technology Relations of the Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, on January 15 handed over the funds to representatives from Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Quang Nam provinces and Da Nang city.

In 2007, overseas Vietnamese sent a total of VND5 billion to help disadvantaged people back home.
