Global economic integration will be the main theme of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC)’s third meeting, scheduled for Ho Chi Minh City from July 16-19.

The announcement was made at a press briefing held in Hanoi on July 4 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The meeting is part of the 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, leading up to the APEC Summit scheduled for Russia in September.

The third ABAC meeting will be attended by representatives from 21 APEC member economies,  forming the following six groups:

The regional economic integration working group, focusing on accelerating trade and investment liberalisation and economic integration.

The sustainable development working group, concentrating on strengthening food and energy security, and promoting technology transfer.

The infrastructure development working group, discussing ways to develop transport supply chains, promote green development, and build public-private partnerships.

The finance and economics working group, prioritising the stability of the financial system, the relationship with G20, credit access for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their sustainable development.

The SMEs support and entrepreneurship working group, touching upon human resource development and incentive policies for SMEs.

The action plan and policy advocacy working group, monitoring the implementation of ABAC recommendations and building action plans in support of APEC policies.
