East meets West for performing arts festival in Hanoi

(VOV) -Hanoi will host a contemporary dance festival entitled “Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance” from September 25-29 following an initiative by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC).

The event, to be jointly held between the Vietnam Music Dance Drama Theatre and the Goethe Institute, is expected to attract many art troupes from Belgium, France, the UK, Israel, and Japan.

Two special programmes will be formed by Vietnamese artists and their colleagues from France and Germany.

Ata “Pre-Opening” event at 8pm on September 25, a group of artists from Vietnam and France will showcase the drama “Underground” at the Hanoi-based French Culture Centre - L’Espace.

Hanoi audiences will have the chance to enjoy various performances by both local and foreign artists from September 26-29 at TuoiTre (Young Age) Theatre, No11 Ngo Thi Nham Street.

The festival’s closing ceremony will take place on September 29 with special music and dance performances by French artist Kader Attou and Compagnie Accrorap troupe. 

Free tickets are available from 2pm on September 19 at the Goethe Institute, No56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, L’Espace at No24 Trang Tien Street, the British Council at No20 Thuy Khue Street, and the Japanese Cultural Exchange Centre at No27 Quang Trung Street, in Hanoi.
