President Nguyen Minh Triet has highlighted the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) in the past war for national independence as well as in the current process of national development.

President Triet expressed his appreciation during a get-together held by the VFF Central Committee in Hanoi on August 30 to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day (September 2). The function was attended by representatives of VFF member organisations, religious dignitaries, and various ethnic minority groups.

President Triet stressed that the fatherland work must be always based on the people and be for the people. Administrative reforms have resulted in important achievements, but sometimes still fail to fully satisfy the people's wishes.

He said the VFF should communicate with people from all walks of life and seek their opinions on ways to help the Party and State to work out appropriate policies.

The VFF Central Committee President, Pham The Duyet, expressed the VFF’s determination to implement all its tasks with a focus on disseminating the Party' Resolutions and major policies to all people, and strengthening national great unity in the new stage of development.
