Kien Giang in southern Vietnam and the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, have recently signed an agreement to increase cooperation in various areas.

Accordingly, the two sides will boost comprehensive cooperation in trade, tourism, industry, investment, services, agriculture, fisheries, construction, transport, science-technology and telecommunications.

They will encourage their businesses to build commercial centres and supermarkets, open representative offices, organize trade fairs and exhibitions, and promote their products in their respective localities.

They will create the best conditions for their tourism sectors to develop by opening air, sea and road tours and simplifying procedures to attract tourists. They will also facilitate exchanges between their culture and sports, youth and women organisations.

They will assist their healthcare sectors to transfer technologies and do charitable activities.

The two localities will work closely with each other to better implement crime prevention, including trans-national crime, in line with laws of their countries.

Relevant agencies of both sides will work out specific action plans to translate the agreement into reality.
