The commitment was made during talks in Phnom Penh on April 3 between Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong.

The two PMs met on the sidelines of the 20^th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) being held in Phnom Penh on April 3-4.

They expressed pleasure at the positive development of bilateral relations and agreed to continue creating favourable conditions for each other in trade and investment.

They said both countries will speed up the implementation of the framework agreement on Vietnam-Singapore Connectivity and encourage Singaporean businesses to invest in Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island.

The two PMs stressed the need to consolidate their common stance on the East Sea to promote peace, stability, security and safety in regional maritime, and settle any disputes among the parties concerned in a peaceful manner, in accordance with international laws, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and toward formulating the Code of Conduct (COC) in the East Sea.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is leading a Vietnamese delegation to the 20^th ASEAN Summit in Cambodia. He attended the opening ceremony, the plenary session and other meetings on April 3.
