National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong has asked Kien Giang to intensify propaganda work relating to voters’ rights and obligations as well as preparations at the grassroots level to make the election actually become voters’ festive day.

Chairman of the National Assembly and the Central Election Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and a NA Standing Committee delegation on May 7 inspected preparations for the election of deputies to the 12th NA in southern Kien Giang province.

NA Chairman Trong said that Kien Giang should strictly examine preparations for the election to ensure it will successfully take place in a democratic lawful manner.

During his working session with the Kien Giang provincial election committee, Mr Trong praised the committee’s thorough preparations and effective cooperation with relevant sectors and agencies in order to organise the election democratically and lawfully. He underscored the need to well prepare for the election as it is the role and responsibility of the election boards and constituencies at the grassroots level.

The legislative chief asked Kien Giang to intensify propaganda work relating to voters’ rights and obligations as well as preparations at the grassroots level to make the election become voters’ festive day.

So far, Kien Giang has completed the list of voters and brief biographies of NA candidates at more than 1,600 polling stations. With 11 candidates nominated by the locality and 8 introduced by the Party Central Committee, Kien Giang will elect 8 deputies to the 12th NA election.

Judging by Kien Giang’s socio-economic development situation, Mr Trong expressed hope that the province will again fulfill all its plan targets.
