Vietnam and Singapore should continue to strengthen cooperation to overcome the negative impact of the global financial crisis and make preparations to come up with difficulties lying ahead.

The statement was made by Singaporean Minister of Industry and Trade, Lin Hung Kiang, during his meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister, Nguyen Sinh Hung, in Hanoi on October 29.

 

Minister Lin Hung Kiang expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s impressive achievements in the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, as well as the Vietnamese Government’s determination to push through reforms.

 

Deputy PM Nguyen Sinh Hung said he is delighted at the fine development of the Vietnam-Singapore relationship as the two countries are implementing effective projects that will greatly contribute to the economic development of both sides and increase their position in the international arena.

 

Mr Hung also stressed that it is essential to boost cooperation between the two countries, especially in the current context of strong fluctuations caused by the global financial crisis.

 

He affirmed that the two countries know how to grasp every opportunity, the global financial crisis may provide a chance for Asian countries to cooperate and create a new development trend, he added.
