Construction of a Vietnamese-funded fertilizer plant started on December 24 in Kandal province of Cambodia.

The US$65-million plant will have a design capacity of producing 500,000 tonnes of fertiliser a year.

Once put into operation in two years’ time, the plant, which will use technology of Japan, China and the US, is expected to create job for 500 workers.

At the ground-breaking ceremony, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said the plant will help stabilise the supply of fertiliser and generate more jobs for local residents.
