(VOV) - The Aquitaine Regional Council’s Vice Chairwoman, Beatrice Veyssy led a delegation to visit northern Lao Cai province from November 14-17.

The visit is part of activities to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Lao Cai- Aquitaine ties.

Over the past 10 years, cooperation between Lao Cai and Aquitaine has developed strongly with regular exchange of visits to promote mutual understanding and implementation of agreements.

Aquitaine has supported Lao Cai’s comprehensive plan to develop local tourism in a sustainable manner, particularly its efforts to turn Sapa district into a tourist site of national and international magnitude.

The French Development Agency (AFD)’s official development assistance (ODA) has helped the province carry out many key projects for the benefit of long-term socio-economic growth.

The Secretary of the Lao Cai provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Huu Van, spoke highly Aquitaine’s effective assistance and cooperation with the province over the past 10 years.

Mrs Veyssy said the region will further support Lao Cai in completing its Sapa urban development planning.

The two sides will cooperate in eco-tourism, training, technology transfer, and fruit planting in temperate areas, she said.

The delegation will visit some places in Lao Cai City, and the two districts of Sapa and Bac Ha.
