During the seminar, participants were briefed on the VID programme which includes two main parts. The first part is to build a project on condition that it will be competed within a year with support from local communities as it helps to solve social issues. Once approved, the project will receive funds for implementation.
The second part is to carry out activities with the aim of encouraging individuals and organisations to take the lead in sharing experiences in selected themes related to the expansion of cooperative relations which are appreciated both at home and abroad.
The first VID programme was implemented in 2003. Since then, Vietnam has had hundreds of projects which have received support from the World Bank and other donors, such as a project on HIV/AIDS prevention model in Hanoi, a project to take care of HIV/AIDS children and women in Ha Tay province and a project for disadvantaged children in Da Nang city.
