Quang Ngai provice aims to receive more visitors

Quang Ngai plans to become a major destination in the central region and to develop tourism to into a major sector of its economic structure, contributing significantly to the province’s income and development.

According to the Quang Ngai Portal, the provincial People’s Committee recently approved a plan for tourism development between 2015 and 2025. 

Under the plan, this province with 130km of coastline will welcome 600,000 tourists by 2015. The number will increase to 950,000 by 2020 and 1.3 million by 2025. 

Of the total, foreign tourists to this central province are also projected to increase from 50,000 in 2015 to 70,000 in 2020 and 90,000 in 2025. 

Turn-over from tourism is projected to be VND550 billion (US$25.9 million) in 2015, VND880 billion in 2020 and VND1.152 trillion in 2025. 

For accommodation, this central province plans to improve 2,000 rooms in 2015, which will be double in 2020 and triple in 2025. 

In 2013, Vietnam received 7,572,352 foreign tourists, a 10.6 percent rise over 2012, bringing in VND200 trillion (US$9.4 billion) for the state coffer. 

The country’s tourism sector plans to receive 8 million foreign tourists and serve 37.5 million domestic tourists this year.
