One imported COVID-19 case detected in Tien Giang

VOV.VN - A seven-month old Australian boy who arrived in the nation with his Vietnamese mother has tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to a statement made by a health official from Tien Giang province on October 19, the boy and his mother had originally arrived in the country at Can Tho Airport on October 15 after taking a flight from Australia. Upon landing, the boy and all other passengers onboard the flight were immediately placed into quarantine at a facility in Long Thanh commune of Chau Thanh district.

Following this, the boy was tested for the virus on October 17, with his result coming back positive. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Long Dinh field hospital.

This marks the third time that Tien Giang province has received Vietnamese citizens returning from Australia, in addition to the eighth time welcoming returning Vietnamese citizens from abroad.
