Over 4,200 meth pills seized in Quang Tri

Border guards, public security forces, and customs officers of the central Quang Tri province have seized 4,234 meth pills en route to Vietnam from Laos.

On July 15 afternoon, they found that passengers in a car plated 73A-098.90 showed suspicious behavior at the My Yen wharf,  situated in Bich La Dong village, Tan Thanh commune, Huong Hoa district. At 3:30pm, they arrested Nguyen Thi Thao Ly – aged 17 and residing in An Du Dong 1, Vinh Tan commune, Vinh Linh district – and confiscated her collection of pills.

Seeing their accomplice arrested, two others drove to Dong Ha city.

At 10pm the same day, the car was found at a stone mine in Thuong Lam village, Cam Chinh commune, Cam Lo district.

Authorities later arrested Tran Thanh Giang, 22, residing in Tan Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province, at the site.

They are believed to be part of a drug ring, trafficking drugs from Laos to Quang Binh for consumption.

The investigation is still ongoing.
