The HCM City National University should focus on implementing measures to increase the quality of training and research activities, as well as promote technology transfer for production in order to become an exemplary university in Vietnam, said Prime Minister Phan Van Khai.

Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem visited and held a working session with the HCM City National University on May 9.

 

Deputy Minister of Education and Training and director of the HCM City National University Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Phat reported to the two Government leaders on the university’s operations over the past time as well as its development orientations in the years to come.

 

Speaking at the working session, Mr Khai praised the great efforts by the HCM City National University in overcoming difficulties and challenges to create a solidarity bloc in terms of ideology, organisation and operation and for providing the essential foundations for rapid and sustainable development to meet international standards.

 

The PM asked the HCM City National University to attach importance to developing young staff, building a comprehensive structure and speeding up technical and infrastructural development to serve training activities. The university should focus on implementing measures to increase the quality of training and research activities, as well as promote technology transfer for production. These are strategic measures to boost the nation’s rapid and sustainable development, he stressed.

 

He also expressed his hope that the HCM City National University will become Vietnam’s exemplary university and gradually catch up with other prestigious universities in the region and the world.
