Vietnam, South Africa share experience in goods reserves

Experience in agricultural development and goods reserves was shared during a working session between deputy head of the General Department of State Reserves Le Van Thoi and representatives from South Africa’s Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on November 13.

At the meeting in South Africa, Christo Van der Rheede, Deputy Executive Director of Agri SA – an agency controlling agricultural products, gave a brief on the production of major farm produce and methods to preserve the products in the country.

Thoi, in turn, introduced to the host the foundation and development process of the General Department of State Reserves and its techniques to reserve goods.

Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Le Huy Hoang suggested the two countries intensify cooperation in goods reserves and preservation in order to raise the current US$1.2 billion two-way trade.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese delegation visited a food preservation storehouse in South Africa.
