The blue ear pig disease has been controlled nineteen days after it broke out in the four villages of Tu Xa, Kinh Ke, Ban Nguyen and Son Duong in Lam Thao District, northern Phu Tho province.

The Phu Tho Department of Animal Health says that taking preventive measures such as culling of sick pigs and sterilization and improving local people’s awareness of the disease has helped to prevent it from spreading in the district.

112 out of 365 infected pigs belonging to 38 households have been destroyed.
