A development credit agreement and legal documents relating to an information and communication technology (ICT) development project in Vietnam was signed in Hanoi on June 1.

On the occasion, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Le Duc Thuy and director of World Bank (WB) director for Vietnam Klaus Rohland inked a preferential credit loan worth US$88 million to support the ICT development project in Vietnam.

The credit loan aims to boost access information regarding government policies, services and procedures.

The ICT development project comprises five sub-projects focusing on developing the ICT sector, modernising the Ministry of Post and Telematics and the General Statistics Office; as well as applying IT advances in municipal authorities of Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. The project aims to help develop an internal information network, build an e-government model and improve e-services.
