A ceremony was held in Thailand to celebrate Vietnam’s 62nd National Day (September 2).

The event drew the participation of senior officials, representatives from the Privy Council of the Royal Thailand, diplomatic corps and hundreds of overseas Vietnamese and students.


Vietnamese ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Duy Hung reviewed the country’s development stages, especially its achievements over the past 60 years. He said Vietnam now plays a more important role in the international arena and expressed his belief that the relations between Vietnam and Thailand will continue to consolidate and develop for the mutual benefit of both countries and for common development in the region and the world.


Earlier, nearly 100 overseas Vietnamese in Thailand attended a meeting at the Vietnamese embassy to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day.


At the meeting, representatives of overseas Vietnamese raised funds for flood victims in the central region, bringing the total amount of financial support for flood victims from Vietnamese associations in Thailand to around US$3,700.


Hoang Thai Quang, First Secretary of the Vietnamese embassy received a sum of US$6,794 from Ms Dinh Thi Hue who wants to support Agent Orange children in Vietnam.


Vietnamese students studying at Thai universities also held diverse activities to mark Vietnam’s National Day.
