Israel, Vietnam hold third political consultation

Israel wants to strengthen multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in agriculture, trade, science, technology, health care, education and training.

This was affirmed by Israeli Deputy Director General for Asia and the Pacific of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Ruth Kahanoff while presiding over the third Vietnam-Israel joint political consultation in Israel on May 14.

Vietnamese Deputy FM Le Luong Minh, co-chairman of the meeting, asserted that the country is ready to step up cooperation with Israel to maximise each other’s strengths.

Vietnam hopes that Israel will receive more Vietnamese apprentices in agriculture and open its market to Vietnamese labour.

Host and guest agreed to exchange delegations of all levels and step up people-to-people diplomacy to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Israel diplomatic relations in 2013.

They also promised to coordinate and support each other in international forums.

The two sides agreed to foster the establishment of a joint committee and the signing of several agreements, including an investment encouragement and protection agreement, in order to facilitate bilateral cooperation.

They also discussed regional and international issues of common concern.

The two sides agreed to maintain the joint political consultation between two foreign ministries, with the fourth session to be held in Vietnam next year.

Earlier on May 13, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Luong Minh held a working session with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister, Daniel Ayalon.
