Fostering Vietnam-Laos ties

Bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has been consolidated, strengthened and developed effectively.

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Laos counterpart Somsavat Lengsavath affirmed this at their talks in Hue City on April 7.

Deputy PM Somsavat is visiting Vietnam from April 5-10 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

As chairmen of Inter-Government Cooperation Sub-committees, the two Deputy PMs reviewed the implementation of high-level cooperative agreements, especially the agreement made at the 34th meeting of the Inter-Government Cooperation Sub-committees. They also discussed specific measures to monitor projects and reallocated Vietnamese non-refundable aid for Laos to achieve better results.

Deputy PM Somsavat thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their assistance during his country's national construction, especially for helping Laos organize the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and the 7th seventh Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP) in 2012.
