An official welcome ceremony was held in Hanoi on December 8 in honour of Defence Minister Luvsanvandan Bold and a high-ranking military delegation from Mongolia.

A military delegation of Vietnam, headed by Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh, held talks with the Mongolian military delegation, headed by Minister Luvsanvandan Bold.

General Thanh described the visit as an important milestone in opening up a new development stage in military relations between the two countries and contribute to boosting the traditional friendship between the two peoples.

For his part, Minister Luvsanvandan Bold expressed joy at Vietnam’s achievements in national development and defence over past years and congratulated its successful hosting of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting plus (ADMM+) in Hanoi recently.

The two sides shared experiences in building the armed forces in each country and discussed measures to boost cooperation in military medicine, training and coping with non-traditional security challenges.

The two ministers agreed that in the future, relevant agencies of the two armies will work towards the establishment of defence attaché offices and make preparations for signing of the agreement on bilateral national defence cooperation between the two ministries at a suitable time.
