Asia-Pacific regional conference launches today in HCM City
VOV.VN - National Assembly Chair Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan delivered a keynote address on May 11 to launch the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
The 3-day conference in Ho Chi Minh City will focus on the effects of climate change and global warming, said Ngan in her opening remarks, a topic of great debate and of special interest to Vietnam. |
Ngan noted the goal of the conference is to provide a forum for regional parliaments to meet face to face and develop comprehensive well thought out and practical strategies to cope with the effects of climate change. |
In addition, she said, the conference will discuss the role of different stakeholders in responding to climate change. |
Most importantly, it will address ways national parliaments can contribute through legislation, budgeting, and monitoring to the effort to meet international commitments on climate change. |
Delegates at the forum will also address gender equality, healthcare, and resource mobilization, she averred. |
