A new cheap laptop trademark produced by an alliance of some local computer hardware companies in Vietnam has been introduced to the public.

According to the alliance, the V-Open - the first of its kind in Vietnam - is a rather compact laptop with a weight of 1.8 kg and a 12-14 inch screen. It uses Intel technology and will be sold at US$840-1,050, or 20-30 percent lower than foreign trademarks with similar configurations.

Customers will be able to enjoy technical assistance services nationwide provided by all members of the alliance, which includes five computer businesses and one information technology centre.
