Drug trafficking ring razed in Dien Bien

The drugs squad of the northern province of Dien Bien on January 9 reported that they brought to light a large drug trafficking ring involving a Lao national and 21 cakes of heroin (about 7.5kg).

Lo Van Sinh, born in 1978 and residing in Thanh Chan commune, Dien Bien district of Dien Bien province, and Khamphut Thammavong, born in 1988 from Phonhong district of Vientiane province, Laos, were caught trading the drugs in Muong Thanh hotel in Dien Bien Phu city on January 8.

They used weapon to resist the squad, injuring two, but were arrested later.

The case is under further investigation.
