The Robot Vietnam Challenge 2007 will take place at the Phan Dinh Phung Competition Hall in Ho Chi Minh City from May 22-27 with the participation of 258 badminton players from 17 countries and territories.

The organizing board announced at a press briefing on May 15 that this year’s tournament will attract many renowned players, including Hashim Muhd Roslin from Malaysia (ranked 19th in the world), Poompat Sapkulchananart from Thailand (ranked 41st), Kidd Nocholas from the UK (ranked 47th) and Tan Chun Seang from Malaysia (ranked 48th) in the male categories; and Wong Pei Xian from Malaysia (ranked 19th), Soratja Chansrisukot from Thailand (ranked 30th), Monthila Meemeak fromThailand (ranked 34th), Hallam Tracey from the UK (ranked 40th) and Agnese Allegrini from Italy (ranked 41st) in the female categories.


Vietnam will join the event with 55 players, including 26 female players, with an aim of learning competitive experiences. Nguyen Tien Minh who ranks 62nd in the world and the champion of the Robot Vietnam 2006 will also attend the tournament.


Champion of the tournament will be rewarded US$2,000 in cash (for male player) and US$1,300 (for female player).


Last year’s tournament attracted 132 badminton players.
