Tragic accident kills 3, injures 17 near Vietnam-China borderline

(VOV) - A Chinese truck carrying 23 Vietnamese flipped over in an area in He Kou district, Yunnan province, bordering Vietnam’s Lao Cai province on March 16, killing three people and leaving 17 others injured.

According to Secretary of the Party Committee of Bat Xat District, Lao Cai province, Bui Huu Loi, the 23 victims were identified as residents of Den Sang commune, Bat Xat district. They were employed to work in China, and faced the tragic accident on the way back home.

Rescue forces immediately took the injured to a nearby hospital for first-aid treatment. On March 17, relevant Chinese agencies handed over the three bodies to their families in Vietnam.

The three deaths included Tan Pa May, born in 1960, Tan Lo May, born in 1979, and Ly Ta May, born in 1986.

Den Sang communal authorities said Chinese agencies provided each of the death family with VND115 million, and are taking responsibility to cover medical treatment for the injured in He Kou hospital.
