Japan provides aid for orderly training

(VOV) - A Japanese language training course for 150 Vietnamese medical orderlies under the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA) program opened on November 28.

The Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) said the orderlies will be trained as a precursor for work opportunities in Japan.

Japan will offer all tuition and accommodation costs for the candidates, worth an estimated total of US$6 million. Teachers from the Japanese ARC Academy will deliver Japanese language lessons to the orderlies.

MoLISA Minister Pham Thi Hai Chuyen said the program will help Vietnamese orderlies have a chance to work in Japan and learn advanced medical techniques to contribute to Vietnam’s development cause.

The Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Tanizaki Yasuaki, said Japan faces shortages of around 50,000 medical orderlies and will need a further 400,000-600,000 to take care of elderly people within the next 10 years.

The first contingent of Vietnamese orderlies will learn Japanese language over the next 12 months. In 2013, Japan will recruit an additional 180 Vietnamese personnel and provide finance for training.
