Australian-based EnsHam will increase its investment in a thermal power plant in southern Kien Giang province from US$1 billion to US$4 billion to raise its capacity from 1,000 MW to 3,600 MW.

Upgrade work will start in 2008 and the plant is expected to be put into operation by 2012.

This is the second high capacity thermal power plant to be built in the Mekong Delta.
