Malaysian Minister of Agriculture Mustapha Mohaned announced on October 12 that his country might import rice from Vietnam

He said Malaysian officials are evaluating the quality of Vietnamese rice and the Government will make a final decision if Vietnamese rice meets Malaysian requirements.

Mr Mustapha added that since prices for rice and oil have gone down the Government needs triple its rice reserves compared to May and lower the price of rice.
